The Clones are Back!!!

Sejarah terulang lagi…..sebuah kloning macintosh versi baru terlahir kembali……. Sebagai informasi, “attack of the Mac clones” yang pertama terjadi sekitar taun 90 an….Mac clones itu sendiri artinya sebuah komputer non Apple yang bisa run OS Apple (OS yg asli buatan Apple bukan hasil Hack kaya hackintosh ya…)

Beberapa waktu yang lalu, sebuah perusahaan yang bernama Psystar merilis produk komputernya yang bernama Open Mac yang kompatibel dengan Mac built OS X Leopard . Komputer ini dijual hanya seharga $399!!! Wow bahkan lebih murah dari Mac yang plg murah a.k.a Mac mini..

Dengan harga segitu sudah bisa dapet komputer dengan spesifikasi yang lebih hebat dari Macmini:
- 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- memory : 2GB of DDR2
- Intel GMA 950 buat grafisnya
- 20x DVD+/-R Drive
- 4 USB Ports
- 250GB 7200RPM HD drive

Komponen nya juga lebi fleksibel, artinya bisa diupgrade…misalnya kartu grafisnya bisa diupgrade jadi yang bagusan dikit : contohnya Nvidia GeForce 8600GT..etc etc.

Kabarnya, Open Mac dibuat dengan menggunakan “standar PC part” yang kompatibel dengan LEOPARD tentunya. EFI emulator di Open Mac memungkinkan komputer ini bisa diinstall Leopard langsung dari DVD originalnya.

Kalo dilihat dari komponennya, Open Mac pasti punya performance yang lebi bagus dari Mac mini..dengan harga yang jauh lebih murah…tapi status hukumnya belum tau juga…..yang jelas di EULA -nya, Leopard dilarang diinstal di komputer non Apple…

gw sih pilih Apple original aja deh……

2 tahun yang lalu, pas milih Apple sebagai my first notebook….awalnya agak ragu..tapi sekarang…..gw ga nyesel dulu milih Apple……pokonya Apple TOP banget deh….

can’t wait to see another wonderful products from Apple computer!!

Macbook Air Hacked!!

Macbook Air jadi yang pertama yang bisa di hack!! here’s the story….

Gone in 2 minutes: Mac gets hacked first in contest

It may be the quickest US$10,000 Charlie Miller ever earned.
He took the first of three laptop computers—and a $10,000 cash prize—Thursday after breaking into a MacBook Air at the CanSecWest security conference’s PWN 2 OWN hacking contest. Show organizers offered a Sony Vaio, Fujitsu U810 and the MacBook as prizes, saying that they could be won by anybody at the show who could find a way to hack into each of them and read the contents of a file on the system, using a previously undisclosed “0day” attack.

Nobody was able to hack into the systems on the first day of the contest when contestants were only allowed to attack the computers over the network, but on Thursday the rules were relaxed so that attackers could direct contest organizers using the computers to do things like visit Web sites or open e-mail messages.

The MacBook was the only system to be hacked by Thursday, however, the word on the show floor is that the Linux and Vista systems will meet with some serious challenges on Friday….

Bootcamp expired jadinya pake VMware Fusion..

Gara2 ga bisa pake Bootcamp lagi (harus upgrade ke Leopard uy! Yg gw masih Tiger..) jadinya gw pake software virtual machine deh biar bisa pake windows di Mac OS! Pilihannya ada 2…mau pake VMware fusion..atau Parallels..dua dua nya sama ajah si…..Parallels market leader, tapi gara2 yang suka ngirimin gw iklan via email itu VMware fusion..ya uda..gw pake VMware ajah….he3

Awalnya ada sedikit masalah…cd win xp yang gw punya ga bisa diputer di Macbook….nyangkut mulu di dalem macbooknya! Kagak maw keluar!!!!…daripada DVD drive gw rusak jadinya cd winxp nya gw bikin jadi disk image (filetype nya .iso) dengan bantuan PC desktop gw..….pake program yang namanya “ISO recorder” yang jalannya di platform windows…(bagusnya lagi…software nya freeware! Alias garatis..hehe) gw berhasil dengan mulus bikin cd bootable baru dari file .iso tadi

Dan untungnya…cd yang gw bikin bisa jalan di Macbook dengan mulus…mulus bgt…(kali ini ga nyangkut di dalem…)

Akhirnya proses instalasi di VMware fusion nya dimulai..bikin virtual machine nya gampang bgt…tinggal ikutin aja panduan selama instalasi……pas awal gw alokasiin HD space buat Virtual machine 15 GB….taunya pas uda diinstal dan ditambahin program2 yang penting (office, Adobe, dll)……file virtual machine nya malah cuma 3,2 GB doank hehe bagus….lumayan kecil….ga ngabisin HD space…

gw pikir kalo pake virtual machine kaya beginian performance nya bakalan lambat…ternyata lumayan cepet kok! Jadinya di macbook gw Mac OS X dan Win XP bisa running secara side by side….gw ga ngerasa ada penurunan performa…dan bagusnya lagi VMWare Fusion punya fitur akselerasi 3D untuk DirectX 9.0

kalo menurut gw pake virtual machine malah bagus…..ga usah repot….Macbook ga harus di restart segala kaya kalo pake Bootcamp…..

Ok biar sedikit agak berlebihan…gw juga install Linux ubuntu di Vmware….gw pikir dengan konfigurasi “Mac+WinXP+Linux” si Macbook ini bakalan lebi hebat…haha sebetulnya ga penting sih tapi….its fun!
