Small Trip to The Beach

Its almost the end of summer..the temperature is not as crazy as weeks ago (but its still too hot for me though). Yesterday, Me and my friends decided to go to the nearest beach by ourselves…using bicycle (the only vehicle we have here)…and the nearest beach (and quite popular) from our Apartment is Uchinada beach. We can reach the beach only by following the Asano river..Its quite easy…but its a long way..it took 1 and a half hour to reach the beach by bicycle.

At first, we were planning to see the sunset at the beach..so we started at 5 p.m. Unfortunately, nowadays the length of day and night seems gettin’ back to normal..usually the dark comes around 7 p.m…and now it comes at 6 p.m…so we were late…it’s already dark when we arrived there…

There were nothing much to do…so we just took couples of photos…and had dinner together (in McDonald)..and going back home.

Tired…but it was fun though.

Bird watching experience..

This is my first summer…

its way too hot….

it doesn’t take a long time to tan my skin…..i’m gettin’ darker everyday

but its indeed a very nice and new experience for me..

i’ve decided that i will spend my last months in Japan working in a laboratory (my own research), or doing a fieldwork with my friends. I love doin’ it because this is my last chance to be able to work and interact with my Japanese friends and doing something together in japan.

and recently, i decided to work with a very interesting Japanese friend, to do some birds observation for his research. I have (a little) experience in watching birds behavior, so i wish i can help him a bit. So, we go very early in the morning (4 a.m), to his research site, watching birds twice a week…

I find it very interesting….and i’m very excited. it takes about 40 minutes to reach his research site (by bicycle)…and during our way to the place, we always have a really nice conversation (if he is in a good mood to talk)…and my favorite moment is when we start arguing about our country..Indonesia Vs Japan..haha (my friend stayed in Indonesia for a week…and it was such a bad experience for him..and i find it funny)

we spotted many birds..all from Heron family my guess…Grey heron, intermediate Egret, small egret, night heron, etc etc..my friend call the birds by their japanese name….and i’m not familiar with it…thats why sometimes we have miscommunications…and end up arguing…..the hardest part in this research is to find a correct method for observing and calculating the bird’s behavior..this is challenging, and we’re still workin’ on it..

from this birds observation, i believe i can gain lots of knowledge and skills…this experience is worth it! i want to keep doing it!

a little update

Wow! cant believe that my last post is in 2008!!..anyway a little update..im studying in Japan now…its only 1 year…but i already have tons of sweet memories here…i cant believe that i will go back to Indonesia in the next 3 months! its sad…but i have to go back anyway…

ok, i have to go to my university right now…c ya later!

BBC Earth Film…..STUNNING!!

Beberapa hari yang lalu saya dan teman pergi ke PVJ untuk nonton di Blitz. Ada 2 film yang bikin kita tertarik, Iron Man dan satu lagi EARTH. Dari segi promosi, earth (buatan BBC) lebi bagus, karena di sana dipasang banner2 filmnya, Hmm cukup menarik! Sebagai sarjana biologi, harusnya nonton EARTH donk untuk menghormati nature dan para kameramannya yang udah susah payah meng”capture” fenomena alam yang tingkat kesulitannya jauh lebih susah dibanding ngerekam acting aktor……… tapi…kita milih nonton IronMan….hehe secara kita pikir film kaya earth juga sering ada di tv.

Karena penasaran, akhirnya hari minggu kemarin beli DVD nya deh di BEC.

Setelah ditonton…….TERNYATA FILMNYA BAGUS!!! Paduan musik latar kelas tinggi dan tampilan fenomena alam yang colorfull! (yang paduan warnanya lebi keren di tampilan layar MacBook saya ☺) membuat ceritanya lebih breath-taking! Paduan Patrick Stewart (narator) dan ANGGUN (Voice) juga bikin film ini lebi asik ditonton

Di film ini sebetulnya tokoh utamanya ada 3, Beruang kutub, ikan paus, dan gajah. Cerita beruang kutub berjuang nyari makanan disaat es kutub mencair lebih cepat dari biasanya, cerita ikan paus dan anaknya yang harus mengarungi setengah bumi untuk mencari makan, dan cerita kumpulan gajah yang berjuang mencari sumber air, semuanya disajikan secara dramatis.

Dengan teknologi kamera Cineflex yang bisa ngerekam 360 derajat (dan ditempelin di helikopter), film EARTH banyak nampilin fenomena-fenomena alam yang sangat langka dan ga bakalan bisa dilihat dengan mata biasa..contohnya, di film berhasil direkam kegiatan beruang kutub yang lagi berenang. Beruangnya sangat rileks…berenangnya tenang banget……dan dia ga nyadar kalo lagi di film. Bisa dilihat disitu kordinasi antara kaki depan dan kaki belakang beruang saat berenang..menurut kameramennya….fenomena ini langka.

Coba waktu itu saya nontonnya di blitz….pasti bagus banget! Bisa ngeliat stunning image di layar blitz yg GEDE!!! Hmm overall, filmnya bagus banget….banyak pesan2nya juga buat kita…biar kita aware ama masalah lingkungan…

Kalo sempet, saya saranin nonton deh! Sekalian juga nonton inconvenient truth dan sejenisnya! Biar pada nyadar kalo sebetulnya…we’re in great danger!
